Co-Founder and President, 1964–2026
Robert “Rob” Haroun co-founded SIR Development with his wife, Julie Haroun, in 1993. A mechanical engineer and attorney with a passion for homebuilding, Rob combined technical precision, legal knowledge, and an instinct for thoughtful design to create one of Fairfield County’s most respected residential development companies.

Under Rob’s leadership, SIR Development built more than 300 exceptional homes throughout Fairfield County and expanded into luxury multifamily residences and commercial mixed-use properties. His uncompromising standards, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to standing behind every home became defining principles of the company.

A Westport resident for more than 30 years, Rob was deeply committed to the community.  He chaired the building committees for the 2022 transformation of the Westport Library and the renovation of the Westport Weston YMCA.  He generously contributed his time and expertise to projects that continue to benefit the town he loved.

Rob also felt a deep responsibility to the employees and subcontractors who made up his SIR family, providing steady work that enabled them to support their own families was a personal priority. Today, Julie and Annie honor his legacy by carrying forward that same commitment to the people who helped him build SIR.

Before his passing in 2026, Rob worked closely with his daughter, Annie, sharing his knowledge and preparing her to help lead the next generation of SIR Development. His vision, integrity, and dedication to excellence remain at the heart of the company he and Julie created. His legacy lives on in the homes SIR builds, the community he helped shape, and the family and team carrying his work forward.
